Ornamental Cabbage (Cavolo Ornamentale – Brassica oleracea acephala) is a stunning annual variety that brings vibrant, multi-coloured beauty to the winter garden. Growing to about 30cm tall, it forms decorative rosettes with green outer leaves and vividly coloured centres in shades of pink, purple, and cream. Exceptionally cold-resistant, it provides essential colour and structure in borders, containers, and beds from late autumn through early spring.
🌱 Sow Jun-Aug for winter display. Start in trays or modules.
☀️ Prefers full sun to partial shade. Best colour develops in cooler, bright conditions.
💧 Water regularly. Keep soil consistently moist for steady growth.

Garden-to-Table Recipe
Note: Ornamental cabbages are grown primarily for decorative purposes. While technically edible, they are often bred for appearance over flavour and can be bitter. For culinary use, we recommend our delicious ‘Tête Noire’ red cabbage or ‘Langedijk’ green cabbage varieties.
